aacPlus (AAC+) audio codec?
#16
hi,

a favourite internet radio station of mine has changed their format from mp3 streaming to aacplus streaming (32kbps).

now i am no longer able to playback that internet radio station, because in xbmc i get the normal popup for caching and after that the popup closes and nothing happens.

i searched the manual for aacplus audio playback support in xbmc but found just normal aac support?

is there any chance to playback aacplus internet radio stations in xbmc?

this is the url from the internet radio station:

if you read the section on pap in manual, it's pretty clear it doesn't do streaming.

thus it's up to mplayer, and ours doesnt do aac+, does the pre7 or cvs ?

Quote:- 28-03-2006 added: content-type detection for playercore selection. fixes auto startup of aac+ streams on shoutcast and flv streams on google-video

does this perhaps help us to be able to playback aac+ internet audio streams ?

hmm unfortunately it seems that aac+ internet streams still don't work. i have put several aac+ streams in .pls files and started them in "my music" but xbmc tries to cache it and then stops. nothing happens.

in debug log it caches until 12% or so and then quits .. ?

spiff or elupus, can you please try to playback this url:

played fine here.. you must be using an old build.

<edit>
well atleast allmost fine.. it slowed down xbmc to a crawl..

<edit2> slowdown affected any audioplayback for dvd player :/.. darn.. will get fixed as soon as cvs is back.

<edit3> okey pls files are apperently not parsed by us.. they are directly sent to mplayer fo playback.. so don't use .pls files.. try a .strm file with just the url.

thanks for the reply elupus.

i had exactly the same effect with xbmc slowing down extremely after i had used the dvd player for playback. xbmc was no more usable after playback.

i will try to create a .strm file with just the "http://radio21.rdsnet.ro:8000" url in it..

erm... i don't mind to bother, but, how/where do i open the context menu? all i found was this:

other and generic graphical user interface (gui) features:
- context menu feature (mapped by default to the title button on the remote)

which seems to be for 1.1.0, and i think i have 1.0.0

anyway i looked in keymap.xml and title is mapped to the same as black, but neither open a context menu.

you need to upgrade to the latest xbmc. 1.0.0 is ancient. even 1.1.0 is ancient.

please find the latest t3ch release (don't ask for it here though) and then read the readme or manual on how to upgrade.
