HE-AAC-LC Audio support
#1
Since I'm not at home I can't post the logs etc. But I'm pretty sure the problem is the audio in some of our 1080i H.264 HD recordings over here in New Zealand. They use HE-AAC-LC stereo audio.

There are some samples here: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/Fossie/4877 With that audio and I can see XBMC complaining about an unsupported audio stream:

Code:
22:15:54 T:171413504 M: 95326208   ERROR: Unsupported audio codec
22:15:54 T:171413504 M: 95326208 WARNING: OpenAudioStream - Unsupported stream 1. Stream disabled.

Pastebin of full log file: http://pastebin.com/wVyRcWYG

Also if there was a way of getting the ATV2 and XBMC version via ssh, I'd post that as well.

But anyways, has there been any call to get this audio format supported?

If this isn't a specific iOS issue (if osx/win/linux XBMC builds also fail) then your better off bringing this up in the general, or even dev forums.

Be sure to include the Mediainfo output in that thread and sample links.

I have included mediainfo output, and samples - while not exact samples that I was trying to play, they are representative of the format.

I have no idea if it's a IOS issue or the others as well, I've only used the IOS version and have not exposure to any of the others. Somebody else with a computer based system would have to try those samples for me (specifically the ones listed as TVNZ7 - as the TV3 sample will also include dolby digital and may work).

On apple tv? I upgraded on Tuesday night (apt-get update/upgrade to PRE-11.0 Git:20110623-62171b3) and the previous version was only 1or 2 weeks old, does this mean it should be playing?

Or are you directing me back to a computer based version?

See the top of your log. you do not appear to be running the build you think you are...

I had actually upgraded after posting this (noticed the confluence skin looks quite different now).

So I tested again today and did have sound......BUT, the 1080i picture runs at about 7 FPS and even a 576i picture (as the TVNZ7 sample in the first post should demonstrate) runs at about 14 fps, making any recording unwatchable.
