Finally a worthy AMD mini-ITX CPU??
hey pyrospawn,

using your Z5500 and the AsRock mobo, did you get the DTS signal on your speakersHuh
I want to do this HTPC build and I will probably hook up HDMI to the TV and toslink to my Z5500 directly. Do you know if i'll get DTS signal?

thanks.

Yes you would get DTS using optical out, and also need to set optical output in XBMC setting. However, you then would need to control volume via z5500 remote or a harmony remote. You would not be able to change volume using xbmc since the audio is passthrough via optical.

I have the same setup as you intent to use, HDMI to TV and toslink to z5500.

Can anyone tell me the best speed / CAS ram I can use to optimize the ASRock A75M-ITX motherboard with the A8 quad core 2.9 cpu?

I got some value ram but I already want to upgrade and I just want to get the best this time around.

for HTPC use evanesce,
you wont really see any difference with faster timings,,,

but if your a hardcore gamer, then, faster timing is better

Its not just for htpc, I'm doing all kinds of stuff on this server. is 1333mhz ram the fastest the board will support and benefit from? I'm thinking either 8gb or 16gb cuz 4gb cas9 that's in it isn't cutting it, running out of RAM

ASRock A75M-ITX supports DDR3 2400+(OC) / 1866(OC) / 1600(OC) / 1333 / 1066 / 800

What does the overclock rating mean? Meaning the highest native memory it will use is 1333 assuming you run the CPU at stock?

I was looking at this Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C9D3K2/8G for 34.99 after rebate, I see it's 1600 at CAS9, will that run at 1333 at CAS7 you think?

means the highest stable clock you can use without O/C is 1333MHz...
and if you O/C, you can go up to 2400+ --> if system is stable at that rate Tongue

how about this- G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

BluRay those are beautiful sticks, I actually seen them on NewEgg when I was shopping. I ended up grabbing these G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL for $43.25 shipped when they were available.

I figured I'll run them a little slower speed and up the CAS, with 5 egg rating with 400+ reviews, some say they will run at 7-7-7-21 so I will test for myself. The cost savings is as beautiful as the way they look lol. Thanks for the suggestion.

Eskro what's your opinion on underclocking this ram and trying to tighten the timings? I doubt it's something you would have done yourself lol :p

actually i did, but, my RAM is running at 1333MHz 7-7-7-21

Feel like linking your RAM specs? Smile

Hm actually I think I found it in your signature. Your ram is natively timed at CAS7 though
