Intel Atom 425 - can I make it work?
#1
Hi all

I've been given an Intel D425KT mini-itx motherboard that I was hoping to turn into a HTPC.

The board has 4GB ram installed. I've installed XBMC live and, while the SD content plays OK, the HD stuff is pretty poor.

I was wondering if I can make this MB work for HD content (all stored locally)? Or, given that the board doesn't have the option of installing a seperate graphics card, am I up the creek without a paddle?

You might not be. I installed a Broadcom Crystal HD (around 60$ on Ebay) in an empty port on my Atom D510 and was able to run 720p perfectly and some 1080 quite acceptable.

Actually - most movies ran better than overall menues and stuff Smile

I think there's a 4 series kicking about too, if you want something with a slightly lower price point.
