Trouble setting up SMB shares with Imac and ATV2
#1
I successfully jailbroke ATV2 and installed XBMC. I configured SMB sharing on my Imac (Lion Operating System) and added the folders I want to share.

When I try and add the source path for sharing on XMBC I am able to see the name of my Computer but when I select it I get an error saying "operation not permitted".

I am not sure what I am doing wrong ? Is this an Imac setup problem or XBMC set up problem.

Would appreciate any help.

There's a link in the Jailbreak FAQ that points to this entry in the XBMC on atv2 FAQ. It should give you what you need.

Long story short, without installing Samba under Lion you can't use SMB. You'll need to use another protocol.

Lion and SMB??
That works but not for Lion?
It's just about Afp.
( afp://192.168.0.100 )

Share Your Folder..
Go to XBMC and add new Network.
Change Protocol to AFP.

Thanks for the help. Is it better to use AFP or install Samba and SMB ?? Are there any limitations with AFP ?
