Dunno whats just happened but just started up xbmc and instead of being full screen it now shows the windows frame around it as well as the toolbar.

How do I get rid of it?

Press \ on your keyboard or go into Settings > System

You can add this to your advancedsettings.xml so XBMC always starts fullscreen no matter what it was in when closed.
