At present i am using ATV2 to run xbmc and i was thinking of giving that to a friend and using an old pc setup i have


Would this work better if i used xbmc on this setup rather than say my atv2 -

and is XBMC much much better on windows than say atv2

would love some advice

I don't know about the experience you got with an ATV2 (I run an old ATV), but I can tell you that I run a P4 3.0 Prescott with 1GB of RAM and this config is enough to play SD media with no problem, in fact using a ATI HD2600 Pro AGP Vcard (you haven't posted your Vcard model) , my system is able to play certain 1080 movies using DXVA (via DSPlayer)

all i really use atv2 for is icefilms

i get the impression that there is a whole other world out there with xbmc..
