Hi everyone, I would like to use a spare laptop that I have for a HTPC on my Samsung LED TV. I am new to all of this and would like some advice on my hardware setup and components.

I have a Samsung 13.3 inch Laptop with the following specs:

Processor: Intel® Core™ i3 Dual Core (350M, 3MB Cache, 2.26 GHz)
Screen: 13.3" (1366x768 HD Resolution)
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium Edition – 64 bits
RAM: 4GB (DDR3)
Hard Drive: 500GB
Optical Drive: DVD Rewriter (Records DVDs 8x & CD 24x & Dual Layer Multi)
Graphics: Integrated (Intel® HD Graphics with up to 1274MB Shared)
Wireless LAN: Wireless (802.11b/g/n Wireless)
Network Card 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet
Integrated Webcam Integrated Webcam with Microphone
Card Reader: 3-in-1 card reader (SD/SDHC,MMC)
USB Ports: 3x USB 2.0 ports
Bluetooth: Bluetooth® 3.0+HS
Speakers: Integrated Sound System
VGA Port: 1 External VGA Port
HDMI: 1x HDMI Port

Here are some questions I have:

Do I stick with Windows 7 64 bits or moved to Linux ?
What platform of XMBC should I use ?
Any particular add-ons, shell or plugins ?
What is recommended as wireless keyboard / mouse ?
I gather I leave the laptop in sleep mode and wake it up with the wireless keyboard ?
I would like to be able to access the laptop from within my network to transfer files.

Thanks for the help in advance !

i'd stick with Win7 X64
XBMC for windows as platform
make a seperate thread for addons suggestions (use correct forum section plz)
working remotes are listed in my HTPC GUIDE
Wake-S3-ON-USB is a BIOS feature, if u have that, you'll be happy

OverAll, your Laptop is strong enough for 2D 1080P movies...
but you might encounter the 24p issue with INTEL graphix....
just google it
