XBMC doesn't start, shows in taskmanager
#1
as the subject says, xbmc shows in taskmanager but doesn't start, doesn't matter the version.

I believe its because I run 24hz when i hook the computer up to the projector but the monitor when I hook it back up to that runs at 60hz and its getting confused by resolution? I never had this problem before but i used to run the projector at base of 60hz and then have it autoswitch. I've been testing custom resolutions so I've been running base at 24hz.

So is this causing it? i suspect yes. And is there anyway to get it to load on the computer? delete a file or something?

You could try deleting the XBMC userdata folder to reset XBMC to its default settings:

See: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Userdata for the location.
You may want to backup this folder in case you have stuff you want saved.

I have the same problem.

When I open XBMC, the mouse turns into a circle for a brief moment and then nothing happens. When I try and start Task Manager, Task Manager freezes.

Also, it appears that it will only open when my computer is freshly started.

I've tried reinstalling it and same thing. It was working fine last week... but now everytime I want to use it, it won't even open...

I also have the same problem, but.

It seems it did not like the installation over the top of the old version.

I have had to uninstall and delete everything I could find, but more of a pain was deleting the database.

Its now happily reindexing all of my collections, lets see how it goes !

Thank you.
I did some digging and it appears my NVIDIA Graphics card driver was out of date. Updated it and program works fine.
Cheers.

I've just had exactly the same problem - after starting XBMC nothing happens, no window appears. No crashes, nothing unusual in the log file. It turned out to be problem with btnx program. After I've stopped btnx daemon, XBMC starts as usual. Weird. Writing it just in case, maybe it'll help someone.
