XBMC & WmaLossless
#1
Hi,

I'm using XBMC on Whs2011 and I have troubles with my music files, all encoded in WMA Lossless.

FFmpeg don't support it, so impossible to read my files.
I don't blame xbmc, I'd prefer to use a free & open format such as Flac, but whs2011 and clients laptops use Windows Media Player to communicate.
Maybe I can swap wmp server part and use a UPnP/DLNA server instead, but for the clients I have to use windows media player.

So what are the best/possible solutions ? (Sorry I don't have very good knowledges on media sharing/streaming)

1) Leave all files as WMA + install a UPnP server on whs2011 + configure XBMC as a UPnP control point for the music files ?

2) Convert files as flac + disable wmp server on whs2011 + install a UpnP server + configure wmp on all laptops to use UPnP ?

3) Use the Upnp server only for music, or for video and images too ?

4) What about scrappers & library if using DLNA ?

5) What is the best DLNA server, compatible with XBMC and Whs2011 ?

6) Best options is the ecosystem contains WP7 & Android phones ?

Thanks in advance

Convert to FLAC. WMA is proprietory and undocumented and support by open source software will always be on a best effort basis.
