I am going to be setting up a xbmc box in my girls room and wanted to see what the best options would be. Below is what I am looking at

play HD content
Stream from my htpc pc to this box via smb
capable of running xbmc via touchscreen (will use an addon touch skin)
provide audio via hdmi
will run ubuntu
small enought o fit behind a 20 in monitor
wifi n capable
cheap since its for my girls room

I really dont want to spend more than $150.00 to $200.00 if possible since the monitor is going to cost like $300.00

I dont know what pc to get since really this is only going to be like a receiving streaming device but I want the touchscreen capabilities.

hmm,, maybe you could touch screen by getting an ANDROID tablet.

but you'd still need to connect an HTPC to a monitor in each of your daughters rooms...
as that android app is considered a remote control and not a full blown XBMC for android application.
so it needs to be fed from an actual HTPC thats running XBMC.

or, if there's a way to use an ANDROID tablet with the XBMC remote app again,
and stream via WiFi the content from a single HTPC (yours example),
but making the movie play on your daughters TV, again, this would be via WiFi.
hard part would be to not make the movie play on your TV tho,
only your daughters TV's.
and i think its not possible 'easily' as of today.

and also, maybe get a cheap AppleTV 1st gen ~$100 from eBAY
then get a Broadcom Crystal HD card ~$15 from eBAY,

or an AppleTV2 (720P only) ~$100

then jailbreak your apple TV,
install XBMC on it,
and use again, XBMC remote for Android app
on an $70 android tablet from eBAY
to control XBMC using touch screen...

what I am looking to do is control xbmc.on the monitor itself. so my girls can use the touchscreen nd pick movies and play them on the monitor. no control or tablet.

I already have two atv2 with xbmc in bedroom and living room. I want something that doesnt need a control.
