My mITX build! (FINAL rev. I hope)
#1
Big Grin
So after a lot of back and forth I've finally settled on these parts:

Case: M350 Universal Mini-ITX enclosure
Motherboard: Intel® Desktop Board DH61AG
CPU: Intel Core i3-2120T (3M Cache, 2.60 GHz) - stock HSF
Hard drive: OCZ Nocti 60GB mSATA SSD
Memory: CORSAIR 4GB DDR3 1333MHZ (2X2GB) SO-DIMM
PSU: 19v/8.4A 160 Watt AC-DC Power Adapter
Remote: Logitech Harmony 300i Remote which I will use with the USB - CEC adapter from PulseEight
Keyboard: Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400

So this is my first attempt at building an HTPC with a mini-ITX form factor and it will be primarily used with XBMCbuntu. Will also be testing it with Windows 7 to see which yields the best results for my needs.

After hours of reading the forums the XBMC-community is simply amazing, so I've tried my best and hope you guys can help me with the rest. A big thanks goes out to Eskro for his feedback and guides. Thanks to the rest of the community too Smile

So what do you guys think?

I like this build but I think I'd go for the i3-2105 instead for the HD3000.

The HSF won't fit inside AFAIK plus it's 65W vs 35W TDP.

I was thinking about going using the 2120T for my build too but I was worried the HD2000 might not be able to handle 1080p and blu-ray discs. Let me know how it goes.

There's some positive reviews of the HD 2000 here

Your build looks just fine, with that case you don't need the lower profile HSF as long as there's some space above the fan.

So I collected the last of the components sans the USB-CEC adapter. Then I got to connecting the front panel headers for the power switch and LED. It turns out these are too short, so I have no way of turning the machine on!

After much frustration and scavenging for parts in my apartment I found this:

The only problem as far as I can see is that the the header cables seem to be male-female where I need female-female.... I´m going out of my mind here, so close but no cigar! Any suggestions (do not own a soldering machine) ?

Thats not good. How long are they? The case is only 6" Your goin to have to splice something together. If not solder the butt connectors and heat srink tubing.

Well I've emailed mini-box's support. I hope they will send me new header cables as I haven't been able to find any replacements. The NZXT cables are male to female as far as I can tell from the pictures.

If its male to female then plug them into the existing header cables as an extension?

The end of the cable that came with the case should be female so you need male. The the board is male so you need female right?
