Had to reinstall windows do to a windows update that crashed my system. When I reinstalled XBMC (Eden then Darhma) I recieve an error when I attempt to start the program.
XBMC:Error
CApplication::Create() failed - check log file that it is writable
cant get past the error to get any logs
any pointers as to a fix would be greatly appreciated. XBMC worked fine prior to this crash and reinstall. I've redownloaded as well as used a previous download for both versions.
Thanks
Curtis

Sounds like you don't have permissions to your own user directory, which is very odd indeed. XBMC tries to create and write data to c:\users\<your_login_name>\appdata\roaming\xbmc
If it cannot create or write to this directory you'll have the issue you have now.
System: XBMC HTPC with HDMI WASAPI & AudioEngine - Denon AVR-3808CI - Denon DVD-5900 Universal Player - Denon DCM-27 CD-Changer
- Sony BDP-S580 Blu-Ray - X-Box 360 - Android tablet wireless remote - 7.1 Streem/Axiom/Velodyne Surround System
If I have been able to help feel free to add to my reputation +/- below - thanks!

I just upgraded my xbmc to v.11 however I'm getting the same error. I checked the log file, or I assume it was the log file and it was read only. I changed it to non read only but am still having the same problem. I tried doing what you suggested in post #5 however it says it "refers to a location that is unavailable".
Idea's?

XBMC isn't supported in remote desktop. You might get it to work by going to System settings, System, Video output and enabling "User a fullscreen window rather than true fullscreen".
