Hey Guys,

I'm trying to build my first HTPC with may be Windows 7 or 8 as the OS. I have a old PC at home which had some strong hardware and wanted to know if I can reuse anything from it and still can have real good performance for OS & XBMC on it.

I want to ofcourse change my mobo and get a microATX, can someone please suggest one which will go with this build?
I'm going to get a 64 or 120gb SSD for OS and get SATA drives for storage.

Any suggestions are appreciated

This is what I have in my File Server/HTPC. I believe the 4870 will work also(I'm not sure) but the only reason I say change the video card is because that 4870 produces a lot of heat and uses a lot of power.

I dont exactly know what you are wanting to do since you mentioned something about going to a micro atx board but I wouldnt waste the good motherboard that you have to buy a new one.
If you are going to change up a lot, I would wait for one of the smart people here to answer you. Bluray, 40ozbeer, dougie fresh, assassin. Sorry for misspelling your names here, didnt feel like looking them up.
