Linux 5.1 surround Hardware help
#1
Hello

My system is now celebrating around 4 operation time. It is a classic HW setup
CPU:AMD 4850e
MB: GA-MA78GM-S2H
GPU: MSI geforce 210
RAM: 4gig

Right now is Ubuntu 12.04 installed together with XBMC eden.

This setup has worked pretty good over the years I can even play 10-bit encoding without problem.

But some things has been a struggle since the beginning, example the 5.1 surround sound. Some times it works some times it does't. My primary output device is, in ubuntu sound settings, has been"Built in Audio" "Analog Stereo Duplex" and XBMC has Optical/Coax with speaker conf. 5.1 and Audio output device and passthrought is set to Default.

Most of the times this setup has worked but some times the speakers only play the back surround sound on all the speakers and I keeps always forget how I fixed the same problem last time Sad

I am now sick and tired that the system is not stable enough.

So is there a hardware setup that is always stable for Ubuntu?
It should be capable to play 1080p (smoothly as in Nvidia smoothly NO TEARING) and play sound 5.1 sound through HDMI

Best regards Sebastian
