Help please: Why does XBMC FREEZE during any Live TV Stream?
#1
Hello,

I'm new to XBMC and I've recently installed it on my HTPC running Ubuntu 12.04. I enabled the Navi-X addon and I'm loving it! The only eception being that whenever I a select a Live stream TV channel such as CNN, CNBC, ABC etc. the stream will play perfectly for around 2-5 minutes and then all of a sudden the stream stops, then the screen freezes. Any attempt to stop the stream via the pause, play or stop buttons will cause XBMC to freeze as well. When that happens, I'm forced to hit Ctrl+ALT+F1 and sudo reboot mt way out of there. This problem is not isolated to just Navi-X, it happens on any live streaming TV channel that you can access via XBMC.

Has anyone else encountered this and does anyone have a fix for this? I'm running the latest version of XBMC is version 3.7.6 if that helps at all. I've scoured the web for a resolution and no one seems to be having this issue and there seems to be no, coherent documented fix for it.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Hi!, I'm Erin's husband and I used her account to post my last question. The version of XBMC I'm using is 11 and I believe the build version is 3.7.6. I opened up XBMC and used Navi-X to view CNBC's live TV broadcast. I turned on the debug mode prior to viewing the broadcast to get an idea of what was happening. Both CPU's were displaying around 18-25% usage during the broadcast. Within 3 minutes, the broadcast buffered for a about 5 seconds and then ran smoothly for another minute and then it froze. The contents of the log are too large for this post. However, I can email the xbmc.log file to you if you wish, or if you can tel me which part of the log you want me to post here, I can do that as well.

Thanks for replying.
