If I use the projectM or Gloom visualisations with AEON NOX it will crash XBMC.

With projectM, the crash happens when the visualisation is ended.
With gloom, the crash happens when entering Now Playing...

I logged this bug in XBMC a while back regarding the issue (was getting it when using the radio player, but the issue was tracked down to be Aeon Nox)

Is there any way I can fix this issue? At the moment I have had to disable music visualisation.

In the bug I linked, they closed it as third-party not a bug in XBMC

Ignore the which thread question, I got confused by the notification email which appends read the thread for more info as if its part of the message that was written.

So is it a bug in XBMC or Aeon Nox (as XBMC maintainers would have me believe) - which is how they closed the bug I logged with them.

either in XBMC or in the vis itself, i don´t know. doesn´t matter for me as it is fixed now.
