Nope. Does not install at all. All I get is a blank screen

imho that ATI card is quite old and does not support xvba, neither is it supported by fglrx

Quite possibly. Though Ubuntu 10.04 recognises and installs it. Maybe I should install that again but then just install the latest XBMC from the repositories ... or use Eden for the time being. Even in Windows I had to install the XP Graphics driver in compatibility mode
