This should work great with Windows 7/8, Ubuntu, or OpenELEC. I tried an AMD E-350 based Foxconn Barebones box, and while it ran XBMC really well, it was very, very loud. It was also $100.00, and you could tell exactly how cheap it was from the build quality. The fact that the AT-5570 is fanless makes it very attractive.

I noticed this box on newegg for two fifty including a 64GB SSD. I would love to hear how this is working for XBMC users so far.

Although when you get to the 250 price range you can build something pretty decent.

The speed of the CPU is....interesting.

Yeah, and when you include ram and sales tax, you're pretty close to the starting price of the i3 NUC, which has a much more powerful CPU.

I am very interested in the Foxconn AT-5570. The free SSD is a nice bonus too.

most reviews say the i3 NUC final cost ends up to be $500-$600. Plus it's not fanless.

why is that?

The AT-5570 says "Wireless possibilities" and the website it can use "802.11n wireless networks" (but the picture is a silver model). I cannot determined if it has wireless already or I need to use a Patriot PCUSBW1150 WI-FI USB (which I already have).

Given that Foxconn have had issues with heat in some of their fan based units, and that the fanless feature is a key selling point on this model, I'd like to know how the AT-5570 performs thermally under load.

I don't need HD bitstreaming myself, but I'm assuming it'll be a no go for the AT-5570 under XBMCBuntu?

I think the price is a tad high for the specs, but it's early days for this unit yet.

WiFi is not included.

Does anyone have one of these boxes yet? (Please comment on your experience.)

So a wifi USB is needed to make this wireless?

Wi-Fi isn't mentioned in the specs on the Foxconn website but there are 3 different wifi drivers listed in the support section ConfusedHuh

The CPU looks like it's clocked really low to compensate for the heat....a notorious AMD CPU issue. I haven't seen any modern x86 CPU clocked this low. One would like to see it handle Win7/8 x64 with an Aeon skin variant to see where it lies. Linux/Openelec is another story.

Looks similar to what you'd get out of this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813131843 (though this one does not have HDMI).

Nice find! Looks like a good chunk of the "Cons" from the reviews are related to the underwhelming CPU. $250 is too much a stretch...even with the SSD. The question is.....what's a fair price?

I think under $200 is fair, but the free SSD is a $79 value. I would still like to hear from some real world experience running XBMCbuntu on it.

It looks like there a "turbo mode" that will run at 1.3GHz.

Would the AMD version of XBMCbuntu 12 be the one to install on the AT-5570?
