Has anyone tried running XBMC 12.2 on Ubuntu 13.4 as of yet? I keep getting messages from Ubuntu telling me I can upgrade. Want to check to make sure there aren't any compatibility issues before I do so.

I haven't tried it yet for that very reason. Plus, everything works well on 12.10

Ubuntu 13.04 is working very well for me on several machines. 12.2 is running on my file server with no issues, although I just use xbmc for serving up media via upnp on that machine. On the others I run xbmc 13 alpha builds and apart from xbmc being buggy (because its in a alpha state) it runs great.

Ubuntu Desktop edition is crap for HTPC usage. I installed 13.04 Desktop on a test system and it didn't even start after installation. Standard Ubuntu Desktop is crap anyway (the upcoming Mir thing will make this even worse)
Installing a minimal with ssh server did work. XBMC runs ok with LXDE on 13.04.
