#1
Hello have any one else have had problems getting the microsoft mce remote to work with windows server 2012, i remember it was the same problem with windows server 2008R2 but there where a work around.
I used EventGhost, and even though i install the service none of the events are triggered.
Do any one know how to get the MCE remote to work on Windows Server 2012?

You need the ehome driver, take a look at http://www.win2012workstation.com/ehome-ir-transceiver/

Sorry can't help then, try asking over on their forums or see if you can source the ehome driver from elsewhere.

I found with a number of these packages you need to disable user account control, run the package then re-enable it.

Thanks to a post by MikeS at http://www.win2012workstation.com/aero-cursors/ he suggested:

from the Administrative Tools.

Local Security Policy
Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options
Scroll to the bottom and Disable these 2 policies:

User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval mode
User Account Control: Switch to secure desktop when prompting for elevation

Hello,

I found a solution that worked for me that I would like to share:

The last two days I tried to install the drivers for server 2012, this because it is my server (remote admin) and local HDMI kodi device by using simultaneous logon.

I tried all the methods I could find but none of them seemed to work for me, but I have found a solution.

When connecting the ehome receiver to a windows 8.1 device, it auto installs all drivers. I extracted these with a program called ''Double Driver''. These drivers will not install on server 2012 because of a signature check which does not allow server2012 to install.

The solution is to configure all the .inf files to a signature check that will work on server 2012 (the OS works the same as 8.1 so should work)
( changed it to: Signature="$WINDOWS NT$" ) .

After you do this, you face a second issue and that is the ''windows driver signature enforcement'' feature. This will check drivers and but recognizes you the change that is made. Two possible solutions can be applied to each different situation:

You can run: bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON in a elevated command prompt as admin (or logon as admin). Unfortunately this did not work for me due to ''Secure Boot''. In most cases this can only be disabled by reinstalling your OS.

My workaround is to reboot into the boot options menu, if you dont know how to do this, google is your friend Smile (but most of the times it works by rebooting pressing f8, or restart your system by holding down left shift). You can disable windows driver signature enforcement. When you ever reboot, the system will, it will be enabled again by normal boot. My server almost never reboots, so I dont mind doing this manual.

After this, you use ''Double Driver'' again to import the drivers from windows 8.1. After this you might have to run a driver search from your device manager and search for drivers.

I have uploaded the drivers and Double drivers in 7zip files, extract them and gl.

The driver files are the ones I used with modified .inf files.
