ATV gen 1, Crystal HD Need Wireless Option? + Go Linux?
#1
Hey all.

I'm at the point where I'm trying to decide if I want to stick with my ATV (first gen take 3) or start looking for a new device. The problem is that I can't seem to find one with all the features I want.

Anyhow, thinking of upgrading what I have so I can play 1080p, but would totally mourn the loss of wireless. I'm trying to keep it cheap and don't plan on doing a ton of streaming, but I still want to be able to connect over wifi.

Was thinking of something like this:

]Netgear ethernet to WiFi adaptor[/url]

I'm running an airport network.

Also, if I do go the broadcom route, how much am I gonna gain with a linux instal vs mac based software?

Thanks.

I've had great luck with Airlink wifi USB adapters on my ATV1s with Crystalbuntu. This one has good speed thanks to having 4 antennas (2R2T). http://www.meritline.com/airlink101-awll...38768.aspx
