The web panel itself mainly handles playing media but has limited features for control - I like the clean library/update library tool but think that configuration information could also be reflected (or possibly reported) in the web front-end, which could be especially useful when video display isn't available (resolution set too high, screen blanker not vanishing).
It also allows people to cut/paste between a browser windows if they're reporting settings or issues, rather than screen-dumping or hunting for logfiles. I know it won't be a substitute for logfile analysis completely, but copying between browser tabs means information can be captured more quickly and accurately.
