Gotham Beta TESTING THREAD
I am not sure at all if such a PowerVR 3650 works at all for any acceleration without issues.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

For RC1, and Changing the Video Settings under 'Acceleration' (Expert mode) to this:
Render Method: Auto detect
-Enable HQ Scalers for scalings above: 0%
Decoding Method: Hardware Accelerated
Allow Hardware acceleration (DXVA2): Disabled

With de-interlacing on, results in no crashes. But playback is around 10fps. With de-interlacing off, playback is equally slow.

Continuing with RC1, and Changing the Video Settings under 'Acceleration' (Expert mode) to this:
Render Method: DXVA-HD
-Enable HQ Scalers for scalings above: 0%
Decoding Method: Hardware Accelerated
Allow Hardware acceleration (DXVA2): Disabled

Turning on de-interlacing crashes the test videos.

Continuing with RC1, and Changing the Video Settings under 'Acceleration' (Expert mode) to this:
Render Method: DXVA
-Enable HQ Scalers for scalings above: 0%
Decoding Method: Hardware Accelerated
Allow Hardware acceleration (DXVA2): Disabled

Turning on de-interlacing does not crash the test videos. And playback is smooth and buttery. Everything seems to be working fine.

How can I get a log that shows a crash? Previously someone mentioned a pdb file?

Why do you disable DXVA2 hw acceleration? Does it make a difference if you enable it?

@El Jefe
also need debug log.

Is it the true RC1 : http://www.filehippo.com/fr/download_xbmc_media_center ?

Yes, if disable DXVA2, everything seems to work fine. I don't think the PowerVR 3650 supports DXVA2.

This is not a debug log. Need log with debug is on.

Ok. Sorry about that...fairly new to all of this. I can do that and crash it and provide a log on RC1.

At this point however, I think the problem may have simply been enabling DXVA2 when my hardware doesn't support it. When I disable it, everything runs fine.

please do. Did you install the latest drivers for your hardware?

I would always download XBMC from the official mirrors.

The windows RC1 download can be found here and will automatically redirect to a mirror near your location:

Okay, I'll post it later today.

Yes I have the latest driver installed. Per the Intel website: 8.14.8.1083, and released 8/3/2012 is the most current and is what I have installed. I also have the latest BIOS update.

Hi

I have a problem with a shared library (mysql) and Gotham Beta 4.
I use the function to cleanup the library.
It shows a progress bar and looks like it does it and all,
but in the end the database is not cleaned in that way I do expect it.

I expect entries of files that are removed from my samba-server to be removed
in the database as well by using the cleaning function.

With xbmc 12.x it did work that way.

I use RaspBMC if that does matter ...

with Gotham (both Beta 1 and Beta 3) I have audio sync problems:

Tested on an i3-3225 (with internal GPU and Nvidia GTX760) and on i5-4670 (Nvidia GTX760)

With Frodo I have perfectly synced audio with adjust refresh rate on and A/V Sync off

With Gotham this and also any other combination with adjust refresh rate on (which I think of as essential) and A/V on or off will result in audio starting fine at the beginning of a movie and getting out of sync. Sometimes it's already out of sync from the start.

Is this a known bug?

As for the request to post a log:

http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=183076

That was with adjust refresh rate on and A/V sync off

Sound output is via a Toslink splitter to my Sonos Playbar.

Just tried with an mp4 in RC1.
Audio starts fine but drifts out of sync more and more:

I've placed the debug log and minidump file here (Google Drive).

If they're not sufficient or need more information, let me know.
Hardware: Intel DN2800MT
OS: Windows 8.1.1
XBMC Gotham RC1

Video Acceleration Settings:
Render Method: Auto detect
-Enable HQ Scalers for scalings above: 0%
Decoding Method: Hardware Accelerated
Allow Hardware acceleration (DXVA2): Enabled

In-Video Settings:
De-interlace: Auto
De-interlace method: Auto Select

Crash is recorded in xbmc log and memory dump. Let me know when I can remove them from my Google Drive.

change ln 590 of xbmc/video/dialogs/GUIDialogVideoInfo.cpp from:
Code:
g_windowManager.ActivateWindow(WINDOW_VIDEO_NAV,strPath);
to:
Code:
vector<string> params;
    params.push_back(strPath);
    params.push_back("return");
    g_windowManager.ActivateWindow(WINDOW_VIDEO_NAV, params);

Feel free to test that out if you like.

Cheers,
Jonathan

That doesn't work. Back navigation action takes me from episode/season list directly to Home.
I guess it's because 'return' parameter sets episode/season list as starting path and then doesn't go behind it in history.
With this I realized that new MyVideoNav window called from VideoInfoDialog is, in addition to history, missing starting path too.

Should I create Trac issue for this?
