I have that exact same remote and use it to control my sky and tv controls. How do you set it up to work with Openelec?
Thanks

Not sure about Openelec, I use it with Win 7 Media Center and XBMC. Use code 1272 under Video Accessaries to make it a Media Center remote.

I would think OE would have a setup for Media Center remotes.

What hardware are you running OE on? Do you have a IR that works with it?

Ned, which one are you talking about?

The first one.

looks? that is probably one of that things i measure a remote on. first for me is the button layout / ergonomics. this is where i see so many remotes get it wrong. they put little used buttons right where my thumb naturally falls. Vol, Mute, Ch up/down, Pg up/down, Menu/Guide should all be right there. Play, Stop and other such stuff can go at the bottom or top. But you could lump that into looks i guess. I do agree there are some VERY ugly remotes out there.

a close 2nd is price. maybe i'm just cheap, but remotes take a beating; dirty hands, spilled drinks, being dropped, etc. For this reason I've stuck with one4all style remotes and rely on Jp1 programming to configure them how I wish. My current fleet of remotes are all RCA models (RCRP05b) I can get at Target, Wal-Mart, or Best buy for less than $20. When my daughter sucks on it (she's 1) or throws it off the couch I don't have a coronary like my cousin does and his $$$ Control4 remote. Yes, his remote is dead sexy and feels impressive but I don't want to know the replacement cost or bill to get an integrator to the house to program a new one. while Jp1 isn't for everyone, my time is free. when i swapped out a Sony TV for a Panasonic this winter it was an easy matter to download a new device upgrade, tweak the button assignments, and upload it to the remote. All my macro's stayed intact, as did my other devices like STB and receiver. I wish there were more Jp1 remotes being released as I feel like i need to stockpile my current favorite model!

I rely on a table/smartphone app as a toy. i have an app for XBMC, Fios, and Panasonic TV but they are very impractical for everyday use and aren't something a guest, like my mom, can use when she visits.

To OP-

If you buy an ugly remote, you will get an ugly remote. Look is very subjective. Look good to one person may be ugly to another person. There are plenty of remotes on the market. You should be able to find one that you like....

I like the look of the remote below the most-

>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

Hmmm....

Logitech site has
Harmony Touch
http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/product/ha...ch?crid=60

and
Harmony One Ultimate
http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/product/ha...ne?crid=60

Same price... same specs?

Any clue of differences between those two remotes?

I believe the Ultimate is basically a revision 2 of the Touch, with a more comfortable backside of the remote, and the inclusion of the Hub and the IR blasters. If prices are the same, the Ultimate is the one to get.

Always good to have a comfortable backside when watching XBMC.
