This is exactly my issue.

I did a fresh install Kodi 14.0 nox 5.5.9 copied all files over and no luck

Yes, startup.xml is not in the ZIP file because script.skin.info.service is already in.

For your DVD/BR case in movieset issue, is it OK in Aeon Nox 5.5.9 "stock" skin ?

Stupid idea as Aeon Nox 5 "stock" does not have cases

But, I did the same, fresh kodi 14.0, download Aeon Nox 5.5.9, apply my mod and every thing is OK.

No, there is no option to turn cases On or Off. You can just turn Off case for moviesets.

Having movieset case for all movies inside a movieset is a general issue or some moviesets are OK ?

If you flatten moviesets, those movies are displayed with DVD/BR cases ?
