HDMI connection lost when AVR is turned off
#1
Hi,
I plan to have a dedicated box for XBMC which only has one HDMI connection to my AVR.
My AVR is an old model from Onkyo, and whenever I turn the AVR off, Window removes the HDMI sound device so that XBMC has no playback device. If now I turn on the AVR, Windows will re-enable the HDMI sound device, however XBMC requires a restart to find the sound device.
I'd like to ask whether it is possible to "fool" Windows to believe that the HDMI connect is there even though the AVR is turned off? If not, is there any workaround to this limitation?
Thank you very much in advance!

I have a similar problem with windows and the only way to get sound back without rebooting is to reset my GPU. See the workaround section of this post http://www.avsforum.com/forum/26-home-th...-then.html
