I have installed Gotham 13.1 xbmc on windows 7. I can down load the add ons but when xbmc goes to access the programs on the add ons I get a script failure. Any ideas?

Probably has something to do with the add-on you installed. Most add-ons are considered 3rd party developments and as such are outside the direct functions of XBMC and while there is great effort to make sure these add-ons work for the current build, most users are just moving into Gotham and add-on development takes time for the authors to bring code up to current standards. Sometimes, add-ons require registration & passwords before they function properly or external library files, or just a better settings configuration.

Suggestion, locate the thread or author of the add-on in question and encourage the author for a fix or update, I note there are quite a lot of add-ons that are either not in the repository (updates may be found directly in the add-ons thread) or are not located in the XBMC.org forums and you'll need to locate that web or forum using Google. Prefix your Google search with the word XBMC, search seems to work better.

You may also be asked to post a debug log (wiki) so if there is an actual problem with the add-on a dev can help.

Thank you for the info. I had several add on's that all of a sudden started giving me the script fail message. I uninstalled xbmc and re installed it again and still having the same issue. It seems like my computer is blocking XBMC from allowing the sites to download their content. The two add on's i am using now just to test is DIY and another well known tv series. Is there a way to see if my computer is blocking content that is being down loaded from XBMC?

Barring issues with firewalls or improper network settings, the debug log will show failures in the fetch or network issues etc.. link to guide you if nothing obvious shows up, copy the debug log to this place and place link back to this thread.

That should be the link if I did it correctly. From my understanding near the end there is a line that says: error [Errno 10061] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it>

For some odd reason XBMC can access the internet but when I actually try to open a add on i get a script error. I have turned off my firewall and it will still not work. I have checked all my settings, someone else has also and it appears they are all correct to allow XBMC to work. I have been working on this for two days, so any suggestions would be grateful.
Thanks

"Disabled debug logging due to GUI setting. Level 0."

You have to turn on debugging http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Debug_log although in this case it's obvious it wouldn't help much unless you are a programmer.

"[plugin.video.diy-1.0.4]: failed to parse the soup"

problem in the DIY add-on coding.

I didn't want to go into a regurgitation of what I've mentioned in the past (check message #2) but it looks like the last the DIY network add-on got updated officially was (This page was last modified on 12 November 2013, at 05:11.) and reading the forum threads, there may be new authors who have taken this over with direct links to usable archives in the forum. I don't get either of these add-ons either (I'm geo locked here in Canada). I don't think you're being blocked, it looks like you get acknowledgement from servers, that don't let your request pass.

Here is my newest error log. I turned on the debug option so hopefully that will help. I understand the possibility that one program would return a script error but I just tried about six or seven and got the same results. This didn't start happening til the other day. Any other idea would be gratefully appreciated

Does the machine have a verified working internet connection? Half the errors are connection errors, and the rest could be explained by a connection error.

Yes to the internet connection. I have tried several other programs including searching things on google and everything is fine. For some reason XBMC is the only program that has issues. XBMC does not have an issue with down loading the add on just pulling information from the add on, if that makes sense. Not sure why it will not connect.

I had a similar problem. My Windows system was screwed. I eventually fixed it. See here
