Hey,

It would be great if a set of rules could be set for automatic audio track and subtitle selection when starting playback, e.g. if audio is English, don't show any subtitles; if audio is not English, show English subtitles if available; if there are audio tracks for multiple languages, select English / select original language audio track and English subtitles, etc.

Exactly like that. Thanks! Should've googled for it first But also think this should be a core functionality rather than an add-on!

Well if we added everything to core we'd have a right mess of settings, with the more advanced stuff being done via addons you only install what you need. In fact the long term desire is to keep the core as lightweight as possible and move as much as possible to addons, as using addons to provide functionality has lots of advantages.

I think/hope we'll eventually see settings have some kind of "hook" for add-ons. You'll go to subtitle settings and you'll see a small button for "related add-ons" and then those add-ons could inject settings into the normal subtitle settings, consolidating things in a logical manner, but only for what is installed.

It would help with two problems, one is just discovering these options even exist, and the other is a flexible way to handle settings with additional add-ons.
