Bug ServerWMC 1171: All tuners are busy
#1
I'm running a 24/7 server running Windows 7 x64 with MCE and ServerWMC installed. I have 3 physical tuners available.
The clients are all OpenELEC PC's running OpenELEC 4.2.1

I installed ServerWMC 1171 last night and now I suddenly get an error notifying that there are no free tuners available.
I rebooted the OpenELEC PC but that did not help so I checked the server and the log also says:

2014/11/18 17:58:51.218 LiveRemuxStream> process start error: No tuner available calling Close()

Full log here: http://pastebin.com/k886PkUy

I started Media Center on the server where ServerWMC is running on. There is one active recording but I still can start Live TV on any channel in MCE without a problem.
So I guess the tuners are not busy in MCE itself.

**EDIT**: As soon as the (single) recording finished the tuners were available again!

I do have the same issue.

I am hoping this is related to the same trouble problem happening in the other thread. Please check out the test build I PM you guys and let us know.

Thanks, but I do have a hang if "load timer from pvr-clients" now.

All Steps get a long time.

The same on all my three clients.

Dear Krusty,

Just installed the testbuild and it seems I can now open a channel while a recording is active.

But as you can see in the picture below, the situation is as follows:

- channel 3 is recording on the MCE server
- The OpenELEC computer in my bedroom is playing channel 3
- XBMC (Windows version) on my own PC is playing channel 4

Then I tried to open channel 2 on my HTPC in the living room (which as you can see is also connected as "HTPC-Huiskamer") but except for channel 3 and 4 all channels give "all tuners busy".

I'm not sure if this is a bug or by design. But for all I know, MCE actually should have a physical channel left. Correct?

Hello Ian,

Is all loads in time or to slow?

@Heiko123 I think you probably just need to reset the pvr database in xbmc.

@IanPH
Can you post a log when this happens?

I can't think of why any change in this version could effect your loading time. To keep the log simple, restart swmc and then start just one client. Then post the swmc log to pastebin.com after you see the problem.

@Heiko123 - your GetTimers requests are saying they take 200+ seconds to complete. Also GetChannels and GetRecordings taking 20/30 seconds. Have you looked at whether your backend is under any pressure (eg a process stuck at 100% CPU or anything like that?). Also have you tried rebooting it? Do you have a previous day's log to upload when everything was running fast? I dont think anything in build 1171 caused this, I think your backend machine and/or WMC database etc on there is a bit screwed, or hopefully rather it just needs a reboot

@IanPH You said you have 3 tuners but WMC is reporting 8... whats the deal there?

Also im not sure your issues are entirely the same as what we were getting on our Aussie OTA channels. You arent getting any null space issues but it does appear that ServerWMC only thinks 1 tuner is capable of playing the channels you are trying to now. To attempt to fix some other users problems we are now being much more restrictive as to which tuners we determine can be used to view particular channels. Have you dont any editing of channel sources in WMC or do you just have a "default" setup (ie any merging etc was done by WMC automatically)?

Could you set the following variable in your ServerWMC config.xml file, restart ServerWMC and post the log? This will give me more output about your channels, sources etc

<Debug_AllChannelDetail>True</Debug_AllChannelDetail>

@all

Sorry I didn't reply yesterday. I subscribed to the thread but I was never notified by email of a new post. Apparently something went wrong with that.

@Heiko123:

No I do not see any change in loading time with this version. After installing it, it all worked at the same speed as before.

@scarecrow420:

I use DVBLink as my MCE tuner which reports 8 available tuners. That's because DVBLink is capable of streaming an already open channel to several clients over the network which request the same channel. Behind these 8 virtual channels are 3 physical channels. DVBLink is able to stream multiple channels from one transponder to different tuners. So in the Netherlands, when RTL4 and RTL5 is opened which are on the same transponder, you only need 1 physical tuner to feed two virtual tuners.

I'm at work right now. So as soon as I find the time, I will change the config for a debug log and post the results.

Here's the log with Debug_AllChannelDetail set to true. I hope this is helpfull.

cool thanks, it's useful to see the guts of different setups

So regarding your previous issue where after the test build krusty gave you, you were able to view a channel but still had unexpected behaviour regarding multiple concurrent channels/recordings etc and giving you busy tuner errors when you believe there should have been available tuners.... are you able to reproduce it and provide a log (keep the debug settings in place)?
