Kodi standalone?
#1
So I'm going to try and explain this as best as I can. Is it possible to make Kodi standalone, by that I mean is there a way to lets say turn a desktops or nettops primary function into just Kodi. So when you start up the "device" it will be the Kodi loading screen. No other functions at all other than Kodi? Obviously it will have to run some type of OS since Kodi isnt built as a standalone, but is there a way to say run it on Windows but first thing Windows is done booting it will go directly into Kodi?...

You have to activate auto login for your account. Then open the group policy editor (gpedit.msc), go to user configuration -> administrative templates -> system and open custom user interface. Add the path to your kodi.exe file and activate it. Next time you boot it will use kodi as your default shell.

There's also a guide with other methods on the wiki: http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO_make_Window...a_shell%29

In addition to the provided Wiki link above you could also follow http://mymediaexperience.com/windows-8-xbmc-appliance/ to achieve this. It explains how to auto login and suggests using "XBMC Launcher".

Look into Openelec. Thats the closest thing to an "appliance".
