Just found this thread. I'm getting the same problem - was rock solid with Gotham but now I can't FFWD any HD content at more than 2x and I can't rewind it at all. My system always struggled a little with this but I was able to go up to 8x FFWD before.
Upgrading my graphics card isn't an option. Something must have changed between Gotham and Helix to cause this because my settings and hardware haven't changed. I too don't get a kodi crash log but I am getting
(VDPAU) Error: The system does not have enough resources to complete the requested operation at this time.(23) at VDPAU.cpp:3228
I notice it's worse with 5.1 sound than stereo. Might audio be using more RAM than before?
