ChromeBox video issues
#1
I recently setup a chromebox with Kodi and all my files except one seem to playback perfectly. It's a 1080i H264 mkv directly copied from my blu ray and it works fine on my old Sony GTV NSZ-GT1 via plex (direct) and dlna.

It's no problem to provide a clip, just let me know where if its needed. Thanks.

Please post a sample (100 MB is enough). Thanks in advance.

This one here works: http://solidrun.maltegrosse.de/~fritsch/1080i50_h264.ts ?

I'm far from an authoritative source on this, but looking at the log there's a lot of video decoding issues. You might try either re-encoding or deinterlacing and re-encoding since it appears to be an issue with the clip

Jep, there is everything broken, that can be broken - therefore I wanted to have a sample :-)

fritsch,

I sent you a pm with a google drive link.

The clip is jerky from the start.

Deinterlace video, Deinterlace method, and Video scalling method are all auto. Pass through audio is turned on for all codecs.

The blu ray plays fine on any player. The mkv struggles on anything I've tried it on but that one GoogeTV device (also an Intel... that device was the bees knees other then Google half assing the 24p/pass through audio support in their media player widget).

I could get it going correctly with mpv, kodi / vlc make issues, no matter if vaapi is used or if sw decoding is running.

When copying it from the mkv container to a mp4 one, ffmpeg detects vfr ... works the same bad

I've also had random issues with rips made with MakeMKV, where the source disc plays fine, but the rip (not re-encoded) has issues, both in Kodi and VLC. Haven't had time to investigate it though

So this isn't a MakeMKV issue but something with the video track?

Wanted to update this. I re-ripped it with MakeMKV again (newer version). Works perfectly. Sorry for wasting your time on this when all you did was get me to, eventually, just do the simplest of things to fix it.

Thanks. Smile
