[RPi2] No ALSA devices listed, therefore my DAC doesn't work
#1
Since this is my first post: hello everyone Big Grin...

I have some trouble trying to get my hifiberry+ to work within KODI. There are just no
ALSA device to be found in the settings menu, although the dac is set as the default device
and works flawlessly everywhere else (mpd for example).

Arch ARM is my distribution of choice, the package installed is kodi-rbp.

Global alsa config...
Code:
pcm.!default  {
type hw
card sndrpihifiberry
}
ctl.!default {
type hw
card sndrpihifiberry
}

aplay -l output...
Code:
card 0: sndrpihifiberry [snd_rpi_hifiberry_dacplus], device 0: HiFiBerry DAC+ HiFi pcm512x-hifi-0 []
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Kodi let's me chose between three devices: HDMI, Analogue, HDMI & Analogue...

Appreciate your help Wink

That post just refers to dual audio not being supported.
HifiBerry is supported by Kodi (e.g. with OpenELEC 5.0.3), but I don't know whether Arch has built it with the right options to support ALSA.

I'am not interested in a dual audio solution, I just want to set the dac as my
audio device. By the way: this works without a problem in openElec (as described
in this guide
).

Indeed, ALSA is disabled:

I could check if it's compiled with the necessary options. Which would be needed?

Well, ...this sucks Confused

Thanks again!
I just went ahead and used openElecs binaries^^. I just had to create a single symlink and now everythink
works as it supposed to.

Well if you come back to Arch, it's been fixed and a new package should be out soon:
