Configuring the Samba client?
#1
Hi I have two Windows XP PC's which are networked together wirelessly. My Xbox is connected to the network via a wireless network bridge/gaming adapter. I can connect to my xbox via FTP.

However I can't seem to connect to my network using the inbuilt XBMC 2.0 Samba client. (In fact whenever I try my Xbox simply locks up hard and stays that way until I do a hard reset).

Can someone please kindly give me a quick breakdown of what the best SAMBA client settings for XBMC are that I should use?

As a hypothetical scenario, what settings should I use if say for example, I had two PC's, one a laptop, one a desktop, each with their own static IP's, my Workgroup was called "Myhome", my username on both PC's was 'stevesmith', my password on both PC's was 'house' and the Xbox had it's own static IP address of 192.168.1.109? (Just hypothetical, not real).

In the 'default user name' section, what should I put here?

In the default Password section, what should I enter here?

What is a WINS server - and what should I enter here?

Presumably the workgroup name should be the same as the workgroup name for my other computers, eg 'my home'?

Any tips would be very much appreciated.
