I am using official Kodi 15 from google play on the nexus player, Now that Kodi has become mainstream I was hoping that this issue can be resolved so I can recommend it to everyone who is not a techie (such as myself).

Is there an official add-on that simply fixes this for once and for all without have to write some code? I know to you programmers that this is a simple but to grannies there is no chance they will get this to work.
Is there some program I can install/enable preferable from the official repository?

Since Kodi is now officially available from google play I really want to recommend Kodi on the Nexus player vs the Roku for mainstream use but this seem to be the only quirk left.

thanks in advance to all replies.

I was able to make it work using the the XML provided above(with keymapeditor add-on) and try remove all newline character and space between tag(and make contextmenu all lowercase), try that

No, but "long press" is now available in nightly builds (wiki). The keymap (wiki) page probably hasn't been updated yet for the long modifier, but that page will have the instructions eventually. I'll try to add them later today.

I used the technique described by juliosueiras – but a little more detail:

• Installed keymapeditor add on through official Kodi Repo.
• Open keymapeditor – no need to make any changes, but 'save' the changes anyway.
• This created a gen.xml file in the keymaps folder. I edited this file with the code described in this thread.

Then it works!

Kodi seemed to not like the file that I created. Not sure if it was because it wasn't pure plaintext as I created it on a mac with text edit. But it loved the gen.xml file that it created.

Hopefully that helps someone else out there. This was the last glitch for me to get it to be a better replacement for my ATV2.

dZero can you upload the .xml file? I'm stuck at this exact point.

Yes, but SPMC (wiki) might have it as well in the v15-based builds.

How do I actually move the file to the correct location? If I try in esfile explorer the folder is hidden so when I try to xfer from my phone to the correct location using es it can't be moved there.

I can't figure out how to swift and copy from the nexus using esfile explorer either.

Finally I tried using the kodi file manager but I have no way of bringing up the context menu to do so.

I would really appreciate some help.

I have created the gen.XML file using the recommended way above but how do you actually edit the file?

Can someone please help me figure out how to get my remote mapped to allow access to the context menu.

I tried following the instructions here:http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=224519&pid=2093196#pid2093196

But how do I actually move the file to the correct location? If I try in esfile explorer the folder is hidden so when I try to xfer from my phone to the correct location using es it can't be moved there.

I can't figure out how to select and copy from the nexus using esfile explorer either.

I used Es. Go in the settings to show hidden files. Navigated to my server, copied the file. Then navigated to the userdata/keymaps/ (or whatever it is) folder on the Nexus Player and pasted the file there. Not sure what the issue is.

I already did that.

For some reason, even after unhidding if you try to xfer from phone to NP via the share over lan option hidden items remain hidden.

The issue was I couldn't copy and paste in es. Had to go into the settings and set it to show the select button in es.

Well I didn't use a phone I used my desktop. Maybe that's your issue.

Is 'long key' pressing and holding center button for the context menu? Is this to be standard in v16?

For those of you who cannot figure out how to put the file in the keymap folder you need to learn how to use ES File Explorer because that is where you are doing all of the work.
You need to install it on your nexus player and your pc or tablet or phone.
I used my Samsung Note tablet.
Copy the keymap code above and create a text file that ends in .xml like (nexusmap.xml) in ES File Explorer on your pc/tablet. Since I used my tablet I paired both devices within file explorer on my tablet. Using my tablet I copied the xml file into the the file explorer on my nexus and then put my tablet away.
On my nexus file explorer I highlighted the xml file with a long click and copied it.
Then I used the nexus remote and went to /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/ in file explorer opened the keymap folder and pasted the xml file.
Next time I opened Kodi I was able to pull up the context menu.

The other way is to find the keymap addon in the kodi repo and hit save which will automatically put an xml file into the keymap folder in the path above in file explorer ( again it is /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/ )
Using a keyboard or phone instead of the nexus remote go into file explorer on Nexus and follow the same path as above and then open the xml file that you created in kodi and type or copy/paste the code.
