Awhile back I posted just to let people know about what seemed to be a good deal at the time, i.e. GIGABYTE GB-BXBT-2807 selling for $99.99.
Various obviously knowledgable people pointed out to me that that box contains a Bay Trail processor, which doesn't really have much in the way of oomph, and that something (anything?) containing a Haswell processor might be a better choice. The Zotac ZBOX-BI320-U was discussed briefly.
Well, I set a price alert on that ZBOX thing on Newegg (for $100.00 or less) and I just wanted to let people know that today it triggered. So I'm seeing this box on Newegg at the moment for $99.99 plus $1.99 shipping. Over at Amazon (which often seems to track Newegg prices and/or vise versa) it is also avalable at the moment for $99.99, but with free shipping.
That's all. I just wanted to let all my friends in the Kodi community know about this deal.
Reminder: These boxes have -zero- memory and no hard disk, so those are additional expenses that should be factored in to any purchase decision. However you could get a 2GB memory card for cheap... probably less than $20... and I suspect that the thing could be made to run, e.g. OpenELEC directly from a cheap-o USB stick (as I currently do with my own HTPC), in which case you wouldn't even need a hard drive.
P.S. This is way cheaper than an ASUS Chromebox. On that basis, it does seem to me that perhaps the lead post in the thread "Pick the Right Kodi Box" should probably be updated.
