Android No Audio and terrible stuttering on Fire TV Box new Isengard Live Version
#1
I posted a bug report about this in the tracker and on my last look at it nobody ever did anything.

Kodi audi works perfect and no stuttering on the fire tv on version 14.2. I tried some of the nightlies and release candidates for 15 and this issue kept reoccuring and frankly I am surprised it (current 15 live) went live with this problem. I tried all the different options to get audio to work, it seems not to work on anything encoded in 480p and any mp3 audio. AAC seems to pass thru as long as it is not display of 480p

I tried it on my fire tv and fire tv stick and the problem is the same. I am not at a computer where I can post the logcat, but this is very easy to replicate, try playing a few different mkv, avi and some flv container videos, especially in the 480p and especially with mp3 audio and you will get all kinds of problems, Some will not play at all, most will stutter at least in the beginning and most will have no audio.

This is using a rooted box with the latest as of today firmware, but this issue has existed basically since the 15.1 Rc and nightlies. I think the last for sure working 14.2 helix version i have is dated may 4th, 15. Sorry, can't get the version number because not where I can use the box right now, but everything works wonderful on 14.2 and I would guess at least 80% of my videos will not play with audio and so far almost none play without stuttering on the Fire TV box. I downgraded back to 14.2, but am able to test as needed. You can look up my trac report on this via my username.

FYI, I am a real estate agent so be kind, I know just enough tech to be dangerous.

Yep I am having same problem sound loose after few seconds on Isengard rc2 and final. I tried on fire stick and nexus player.
Sound work perfects once after clearing kodi cache at android settings, but lost after few seconds next time. I will provide logs, but I guess everybody on android having this problem.

It's happening to me since early betas. This is especially noticeable on live streams, the video plays for a couple of seconds and then begins to stutter and sort of pixelates with no sound. I thought the final version would solve this issue, but it certainly did not. I sadly went back to Kodi 14.2 on all my Android devices and Fire TVs

This (stuttering, silent, picture freeze) is only happening to me on kodi 15 and 15.1 and ONLY ON LIVE FEEDS!

I have also complained about this before... no problems on 14.x, and everything Isengard has been stutter city. As soon as the bandwidth runs out it stutters instead of buffering the video. Very annoying!

Just complaining doesn't help. Please provide debug logs when this happens to devs can try to help troubleshoot the issue

I have no idea how to submit a log or it would have been done a long time ago.

i just downloaded the lastest full 15.2 apk and can confirm this is still having the problem. Its pretty easy to find though I am working on generating logs of the issue also. It seems ANY 480p file will not play sound. I have stuff that is aac and mp3 encoded and it seems that if its 480p, it wont play sound and stutters abit on the fire tv. I have both ones I encoded and others that were encoded and none of them play sound/stutter. I tried all the hints and settings for no sound/video issues/amlogic and all that and nothing worked. I also tried turning medioinfo codec on and off and passthru, still no joy. 14.2 plays 480p files fine.

I am basically playing files for about a minute that are 480p, which is most of my recently encoded files. I played 2 broad city files that are 480p and no sound, both resuming or starting and skipping. I then played one episode of blunt talk, one that is 480p and does not play sound, another that is 720 and does play sound. In testing I then played a few episodes of the League, and those also do not play and they are 1280x720, which I thought would play but I guess not. I then played some avis that are low res and they do have sound.

I then played a few the leagues from the mid season 4 and those have popping sounds. I hope the logs reflect everything needed.

This was off a fresh upgrade to 15.2 and logged everything hopefully.

I have uploaded the logs with id P72Kosaso. not sure if those are zeros or os but there is the logs.

I then looked at the logs and decided to show the same files using kodi 14.2. I downgraded (I have to use 14.2 till this is fixed because so many files are 480 or 720p)

I loaded some of the same shows and am posting the log. I basically downgraded, started fresh, turned on debugging, restarted and then played the shows and uploaded, I did not let the files play as long, but all files played with sound on 14.2 without any issues.

I guess I spoke too soon, 2 episodes of the league (the ones in season 4, also had popping sounds. These did play properly in past kodi versions but I am not sure how long ago. I then played 2 from season 7 and those 1280 format played fine on 14.2

I have uploaded that log also... PG8Kl6mik

Let me know if you need anything else.

Lets take one step back, in 14.2, the audio DOES work on the ones that it was not working on in the logs (league season 4 and whatever else I mentioned) had the popping sound when I first rolled back to 14.2 but that was because I had not set enable passthru back to off. When set to off, the audio plays fine on all the shows tested in 14.2. And yes, I tried in 15.2 for passthru on and off, and enabling the different encoders and disabling and was unable to get any to work.IF you need a log with that, I can post.

Same here picture pauses then no audio and video stutter since kodi 15
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=253044

While watching Live TV the stream/picture will pause sometimes, and continues after few seconds.

Kodi 14.2 works fine will pause and resume with no issues all day long.

Kodi 15.2 sometimes resumes with no audio and picture stutter after such a pause.
Kodi 16.0 beta 4 Jarvis does the same no audio and picture stutter after a pause.

Video Audio does not recover, have to stop and start again.

all chmod 666 permissions enabled.

Video clips show what happens.

Kodi 16.0 beta 4
Tested with or without amcodec enabled . Same thing happens.

Basically will pause then resume `without audio` plus `jittery video`.

Box is Red MXQ and original Mk808b plus, tested previous firmware 109k 111k and latest 112k.
Same issue across all firmware.

Of course I don't have any proof, but I'm almost certain that Kodi changed the way it handles Internet streams after Kodi 15 (that includes live streaming). In Helix, if your stream was going to buffer, it just stopped and buffered; after Isengard, instead of that, it just stutters with jerky audio/video and eventually will stop to buffer. The only solution for me was upgrading my internet speed to get rid of this behavior.
