Linux Audio sync issues
#1
New build of Linux Mint 17.2 64bit Cinnamon
Kodi 15
Intel quad core
nVidia geforce 630
HDMI connection to Samsung tv and optical audio to sound system

On both playback of a video and on live streaming the audio starts off in syn but gradually starts to lag behind, ending up around a minute but always changing.
Play back via VLC is normal.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

No Debug Log no issue.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Could you test with ALSA instead of Pulseaudio?

EDIT: means to disable PA before starting Kodi.

Sorry, no idea how I do that.

Try this first:

Code:
AE_SINK=ALSA kodi

from a terminal. Configure your Audio. Then play a sample and post a Debug Log again

With that sound still goes through PA. I don't think this will change much.

It will only go through PA - if the "default" device is chosen, which maps through the PA server as ALSA device.

Btw. as we are at it: Where in the log do you see PA as issue?

I get four choices on the audio output device which one should I use?
Playback/recording through the PulseAudio sound server
PulseAudio Sound Server
HDA Intel, ALC883 Analog
HDA NVidia, HDMI

the fact that pa is used. incorrect delay reported by audio is the only reason which can cause this issue.

EDIT: that does include things like incorrect sample rate or clock in audio driver

The Op plays a 25 fps sample at 59.95 hz. Let's see if the same happens with another sample:

Can you try this sample, please - without the AE_SINK=ALSA, reconfigure audio and post a debug log afterwards: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...NCOPv2.mkv

You can try but refresh rate has nothing to do with a/v sync in this case. Like the OP said in first post it gets off up to and beyond 1 min.

See the resample ratio. Perhaps we have an issue if we are < 1.0 ... we will find out. Therefore I chose a file that will do 3:2 cadence.

Trust me, that can't be the case. rr is fine adjust. We can't get off by 1 min caused by the components you are looking at.
