KODI download zip form

Hi At the download page when I want download Kodi file it is in .zip form. Do I download and rename file with an .apk extension.

Ill be placing file on Android 5.1 box R68.

All the sources in downloads I can see are .apk extensions already. There is also the opportunity to grab it from the Google Play store. Be sure you pick the correct machine, and the download link is top left of this page.

I would highly recommend downloading this version ... http://www.freak-tab.de/wasser/kodi-15.1...wasser.apk

It's been modified for Rockchip RK3368 devices (Tronsmart Orion R68 / Beelink iOne i86 etc.)

It includes Auto Refresh Rate Switching and Dolby Digital and DTS Passthrough (have tested working on my Beelink)

The Google Play store version is not optimized for Rockchip Soc, and won't do the above.

yep I downloaded the arm and the file was in zip form . when I extract no APK

Stupid browser -> rename .zip into .apk

Thanks for answering my newbie question.

I think it would be easier for everybody if all Android downloads were in .apk format.
What is the advantage of leaving it in .zip form ?

none. it wont install as a zip, only an APK

Blame your stupid browser which makes it a zip
