I like nvidia vdpau sharpen filter (already available in Kodi on linux platforms) which is not too artificial. Always missed any quality sharpen filters in Kodi on other platforms so this could be nice addition.

you have to be patiently, maybe in one of the next kodi releases you will have most or all madvr features in kodi:
