Hello,
I like that this skin supports this addon, but I dislike the constant notifications it presents. Is there a way to turn that off?

Yes, it's an optional setting in the skin settings so I guess you enabled it yourself ;-)
Skin settings --> Media library views --> Enable next aired notifications for TV shows --> DISABLE
