Kodi works fine on Debian Jarvis and on Openelec on RPi2 but freezes on RPi 3 with a trail of mouse pointers.
An icon has appeared on the screen in Jarvis with the title core and if opened in text editor says ESS.
Any reported problems with Kodi on RPi 3 please?

If the same sdcard works on Pi2 and not on Pi3 then the power supply would be the most likely cause.
Pi3 does draw more power.
