Krypton nightly - no apple remote support as yet ?

Mhhh i have no problem coming out of context menu with the Back action (simulating i here directly from XBMCHelper). Also using estuary. Can you post a debug log (wiki) from it? Which context menu is it?

Well i had to change the whole approach again (using universalremote xml instead of keyboard xml now). Could you give that one a try again?

I also changed it "menu" to "ParentDir" in the global section.

Would also be interesting there are any harmony remote users here to test aswell...

Late now. I should get some time to try the new build tomorrow and report. Do you still want a debug of the previous build with menu as "back" ?

Nope no need of a log for the back thingy - i think its a general mapping thingy and out of my scope then. I have the ParentDir in the global section which should be fine as of your feedback.

Hi Memphiz,

I tried your test build with my Harmony per below...

Unfortunately it didn't work. The Harmony remote is non-responsive. When I revert back to the nightly as listed in the following thread, the remote works perfectly.

The testbuild above works with appleremote on my quick testing.

EDIT - I am seeing some really strange results though - for example clicking menu on the appleremote with a tv show selected prompts to delete it. Up/down/left/right and play pause seem ok but menu is pretty odd.

I tried various combinations of mapping menu to parentdir, close, and previousmenu which made no difference. Keyboard is fine. I tried both confluence and estuary with the same results which makes apple remote unusable in practice.

I removed all user keymaps for testing.

Please see debug log here (line 709)

Steps:
Remove all but default keymaps
Start kodi test build from above
Navigate to TV show (with appleremote)
Click menu on appleremote
(Dialog asking to delete the file appears)
Cancel this
Try again
Use keyboard to upload debug ..

Can someone else with an apple remote please test and report on the test build Memphiz has been kind enough to make ?
(II get strange behavior as above with odd mappings/actions making krypton unusable with appleremote)

krypton unusable with apple remote... Is correct. Unfortunately.

All this novel to have "improved" something that worked for all users.

Ok - sorry guys. As you can see in the pull request discussion the approach i took had influences to cec and ir remotes. Please be so kind and test with this new test build if possible:

http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/osx/x...x86_64.dmg

This basically restores the seperation of the keymaps used on osx from the rest of the system.

A lot better .. the only strange thing now is that I cannot exit or stop the screensaver with the remote although the keyboard is fine .. debug here

Steps:
Set debug
Launch kodi
Navigate to settings/screensaver/preview (with keyboard)
(Photos display as per screensaver settings)
Press menu on appleremote - this gives a black screen
Hit menu 2 more times (still black) .. stuck and no way out
Hit escape on keyboard (returns to settings)
Use keys to upload debug file

I did try a custom keymap to test if close/previousmenu and other things would work but it made no difference.

could you copy over the applremote map and change that mapping back from parentdir to Back?

Hi Memphiz,

Thanks for your efforts on this. I tried this latest build and at first it didn't work...
So I rebooted my Mac Mini - started it up again, and it still didn't work...

So I went into the Kodi Settings --> Interface Settings --> Control

I changed the setting from "Harmony remote" to "Universal" (still didn't work) then to "Standard" (still didn't work) then to "Disabled" then to "Harmony remote" and voila, the remote was then working perfectly. I will continue to monitor to ensure stability.

Thanks once again -- the time and effort that you put into keeping Kodi awesome is very much appreciated!!

A minor bit of feedback on the test build... I have the Kodi screensaver set to "Dim" after 3 minutes (I think this is the default). Navigating the menu's with the remote doesn't seem to reset this, so after three minutes the screen dims and continuing to navigate the menus is more difficult because the screen has been dimmed.

Starting playback on an item wakes Kodi up from the screensaver.

I appreciate this is a test build and items like this are to be expected as development continues.

Regards,
Andrew

args ... wtf ...

Cooking a build which fixes that one too. I think this is the problem gigantur had. Just with the screensaver set to "black".

I also reverted that keymap change from ParentDir back to "Back" - so once i post that test build it would be important to know if exiting the context menu with "menu" button still works...
