My friend purchased a generic droid box for about $300.

He had absolutely no business buying anything more complex than a pre 1990 CRT tv, so I was called to help.

I was told the box was for watching EVERYTHING FREE, even pay pay views!

I said, "Man, get your money back!"

I consume all my streams thru paid, like netflix, hbog, etc, but in the dim back of my mind, I was aware of XBMC from years back.

I was not sure what it was though.

I thought KODI was a central hub for TV, movies, and porn pirate streams.

The "box" comes, I install and setup.

Many plugins were on it, and my (Black American) friend can now enjoy such nice programs as Qatar soccer, polo, etc...lol

Anyway, I have done basic research on KODI, and have a better idea what it is now.

Anyway, my point/question is, is this thing a NO_NO? https: // www [dot] hevcbox [dot] com /

I reported it anyway, but I wanted to ask. They are ripping the heck out of peoples wallets. The box has some kind of Chinese on it, so I doubt you can stop it.

The line "HEVC Box is a fully-loaded Android 4.4 Smart TV box." is normally all you need to know - if this is a Kodi box (it doesn't actually say anywhere) then yes it'll be making use of illegal sources. It's one of those "if it's too good to be true then it almost certainly is" situations. If paid-for channels could legitimately be obtained for free then everyone would, and the channel supplier would go out of business in short order.

I've also tweaked the links in your post above, as there's no point in giving them any extra advertising via web crawlers etc picking up the links. I'll also move this to Kodi discussions as that seems to be where such reports are being made here.
