I want to put on one of the following os onto the pi OSMC or LIBREELEC. I would like to also make the pi a NAS hard drive hub as I only have external hard drives. Have you any advice on how to do this. I have found some tuition on how to do this but they all use a password too access the hard drive. I don’t want a password and would prefer to use an open SMB as it’s only going to stay on the home network. I was wondering if libreelce does what I want on first set up as it is using samber as a file share. but would my devices like kodi on the fire stick see and read the files by using the ip address only.
as you can tell im trying to set up a home media network and want to use the pi 3 as my main hub

If you install Samba Server from the OSMC App Store, all attached media (HDD etc) will be shared. The default username and password are 'osmc', 'osmc'.

And for balance, LibreElec also has it built-in. You may need to enable it though, either during the set-up in the first run, or via the LibreElec add-on which ships with the build and is pre-installed
Either distro should do what you want, as it sounds a fairly standard setup.
