Kodi v17 and Android 4.4.x Compatibility
#1
Hi,

I read someone mention that Kodi v17 will not be supported on Android 4.4.x and will require 5.x at minimum. Is this true? I have an Android 4.4.x box that works great with the current Kodi version and would like to continue to use it if possible. Would be a waste to have to replace it. I use MySQL with Kodi so all versions have to match in the house.

Thanks.

Oh, this puts a big dent on my plans (and some on my wallet). I have a decent quad code unit with 2GB RAM. I guess I need to figure out if I can put 5.x on it somehow.

Does anyone know if there might be a way to side-load Kodi 17 onto Android 4.4.x?

Even if you somehow forced the install, it won't work correctly. I doubt the app would even be able to launch.

Thanks Ned. I guess its time to donate the old box and look for a new one.

Depending on the box you might be able to run openelec or libreelec on it instead. No problem with krypton that way.
