Cannot access / install addons from Kodi repository
#1
Hi
I have Kodi 16.1 running on a raspberry pi 3.
Kodi was installed from retropie.
In Kodi when I try to access the Kodi repository I get a connection error.
I also cannot install any skins as there is no "get more" button in the skins settings.
I have searched the net and forums, but cannot find any solutions that work.
It looks as if Kodi has no network connection, but it's definitely connected as youtube works 100%
Youtube was installed "manually".
Any help would be appreciated.

can you post a debug log? That helps with trying to figuring out what the issue is

Quote:Inside of Kodi go into Programs → Get more... → Kodi Logfile Uploader and click on "Install"

This is quite impossible if OP cannot install any addons from the Kodi repository.

Yes, yes, make it about me now... Big Grin

@adri76 I don't know how networking is handled on retropi but the first thing I would do would be to change the DNS in use to 8.8.8.8 (google public dns) then restart and try again.

Can we just calm thing down a bit please. Everyone is just trying to help...

For the original question, I'm not sure if installs via RetroPie have pastebinit already installed by default, but it may be worth a try. If you can SSH (wiki) into the device, you can try it that way (as detailed in section 4 of the debug log (wiki) advanced section). Not sure where RetroPie puts it, but on LibreElec it's /storage/.kodi/temp/kodi.log and Linux generally has it at $HOME/.kodi/temp/kodi.log .

That will upload the log to pastebin directly from the command line and will give you their link at the same, so no need for any add-on installing or even for Kodi to be operational. You just need to SSH in and enter at the command line:

Code:
cat $HOME/.kodi/temp/kodi.log | pastebinit

with the log location possibly amended if the Retropie install puts it somewhere unusual.

Hi Guys
I have Raspberry Pi3 with a fresh OSMC installed and wired internet connection

I can't add any sources , it says: "couldn't retrieve directory information. This could be due to the network not being connected. Would you like to add it anyway?"

I tested my networking by installing an older OSMC version and updated it via the same wired connection and got updated in a few seconds - so its not internet connection

also it is not the source address issues, I tested multiple different sources and none is working

I also tried installing from generic Kodi add-on repo which comes pre-installed but it says "could not connect to repository"

I formatted and re-installed OSMC multiple times and it is still not working

I appreciate any help

Cheers

Did you notice that the very first thing that was asked of the original poster was to provide logs?

One might also extrapolate from this thread that quite possibly, OPs failure to provide the requested logs might have a direct correlation to the fact that the thread has gone unanswered for 2 weeks.

But lucky for you, the Myosmc add-on provides a simple method for doing so.
