This happens to me almost EVERY other time I open kodi:

It crashes and sends a report.

As is an app it has been updated by the marketplace automatically and it says 17.1 RC1

The ERROR: Failed to move old addon files, seems to be behind this issue. Almost as if some install script is still in operation and lost it's path. The way you say almost EVERY other time I open kodi: would leave me to believe you do on occasion get a successful launch? If the after reading the following links and trying some of the solutions suggested in the links, you still haven't gotten this straight, we'll take a different tack.
