Live Streams Freezing
#1
Problem:
When watching a Live stream in Kodi (via Twitch/YouTube add-ons) the stream will freeze up for a moment and then looks like it’s fast-forwarding to catch back up to live to play normally for a few seconds and repeat or just stop completely. This only happens with the live streams with Kodi as I can watch them fine via Chrome/Firefox/Edge. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies. I'm new here.

I had this exact issue a while back, then it strangely fixed itself. Now it's back again.
I can also view them on a browser without issue, but the Kodi add on is great when it works. I can post a debug log if needed?
Perhaps this needs moving to the Add on section of the forum?

I got the same issue. Read something about caching and made some changes in the advanced settings. Sadly it is not helping.
Works fine on chrome as u said.
I really think it is cache issues.

@Malkovexsur please advise which line in your log is the point at which the problem occurs.

And next time, have debugging on from kodi startup.

Thanks.

Hello Nickr,

Starting from the line: 1461 The following error occurs 240 times. I would assume this has something to do with the issue.

21:17:41.172 T:14740 ERROR: ffmpeg[3994]: [h264] hardware accelerator failed to decode picture
21:17:41.172 T:14740 ERROR: CDVDVideoCodecFFmpeg:Big Grinecode - avcodec_decode_video returned failure

Try turning off hardware acceleration.

What happens when you go direct Youtube? Looks more like an 3rd party add-on issue.

Hello PatK,

Both Twitch and Youtube work fine via browsers. On the Github for the Twitch (https://github.com/MrSprigster/Twitch-on-Kodi) addon they state the following about this type of issue:

"Having issues with the playback of streams (buffering, dropping, stuttering).
This Add-on does not handle any aspect of the playback of Twitch streams (that would be the Kodi Video Player), it simply tells Kodi what to play. The Add-on does, however, provide Quality Options which may help if your internet connection/computer specs are below requirements for HD streams."

Seeing as I can watch via browsers fine I assume it's not an internet issue.
